Basic Reason for Choosing Translation Career

July 2, 2008

The translation should not be looked at as activity which comprises only the word for word translation of the text from one language to another. In practice real, it implies to enter the heart of a text a different body. One in the best manners of improving your qualifications as translator is to analyze the work of translation carried out by other authors. This will give you an idea of the level of the creativity required while carrying out work as a professional. Always maintain in the spirit which just like all other careers that will take time to learn the trade and the businesses. You must spend the years first of your career by learning the nuances from the trade.

The advent of the internet has helped organizations to spread their tentacles outside the home markets. As a result, there is an acute shortage of foreign language translators or Norwegian translation for handling an organization’s external communication needs in overseas markets. Success, however in these markets can only be achieved by gaining an in-depth understanding of the needs of the customers, which is only possible when you have a solid translation backbone. Translation, in our opinion is set to be a multi-billion dollar industry in the coming few decades. This is one of the reasons why many youngsters are opting for a career in translation.

Aggressive Driving

June 12, 2008

Aggressive driving is a form of automobile operation in which an operator will deliberately behave with contempt towards other drivers and drive in such a manner as to increase the risk of an automobile accident.

Unlike drunk driving, aggressive driving is not usually the result of a drug or chemical, but rather the personality of the person operating the automobile. An aggressive driver may adopt a “King of the Road” attitude and become offended when other drivers engage in such activities as passing or “cutting off” the driver. The aggressive driver will then take the actions of the other driver personally, and seek to retaliate. This normally leads to unsafe driving acts such as reckless speeding or attempting to run someone off a highway.

Aggressive driving can also lead to much more serious crimes, such as manslaughter or murder. An aggressive driver may drive so recklessly as to injure or kill another driver or, in extreme cases, will “hunt another driver down” and then deliberately attempt to harm the person. This is often known as “road rage”.

Aggressive driving may, in rare cases, be caused by mental illness. Persons with mental diseases, who are driving, may become confused about where they are and who the drivers around them are. This could lead to fear, panic or other emotions causing the person to start driving aggressively.

Comparative Advantage

May 14, 2008

The principle of comparative advantage explains how trade can benefit all parties involved, as long as they produce goods with different relative costs. The net benefits of such an outcome are called gains from trade. Usually attributed to the classical economist David Ricardo, comparative advantage is a key economic concept in the study of trade.

Adam Smith had used the principle of absolute advantage to show how a country can benefit from trade if the country has the lowest absolute cost of production in a good. The principle of comparative advantage shows that what a matter is not the absolute cost, but the opportunity cost of production. The opportunity cost of production of a good can be measured as how much production of another good needs to be reduced to increase production by one more unit.

The principle of comparative advantage shows that even if a country has no absolute advantage in any product (i.e. it is not the most efficient producer for any good), the disadvantaged country can still benefit from specializing in and exporting the product(s) for which it has the lowest opportunity cost of production. It has been argued that it is impossible to falsify the Theory of Comparative Advantage

Criticism

Opponents of free trade often point out that the comparative advantage argument for free trade has lost its legitimacy in a globally integrated world–in which capital is free to move internationally. Herman Daly, a leading voice in the discipline of ecological economics, emphasizes that although Ricardo’s theory of comparative advantage is one of the most elegant theories in economics, its application to the present day is illogical: “Free capital mobility totally undercuts Ricardo’s comparative advantage argument for free trade in goods, because that argument is explicitly and essentially premised on capital (and other factors) being immobile between nations. Under the new globalization regime, capital tends simply to flow to wherever costs are lowest–that is, to pursue absolute advantage.”

It has also been argued that comparative advantage may reduce economic diversity to risky levels. Focusing on a few narrow products may increase risk and instability. The principles of diversification in personal finance may apply on a national level.

The Launch of PPC Services

April 8, 2008

Google Launched The PPC Revolution. Started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were still students at Stanford, for a long time this venture grew tremendously in popularity and usage and was very widely used and yet had not found a way to generate revenue. It was obvious that charging a fee for the use of their revolutionary search engine was not the right model. That search for a way to generate revenues ended when Google was already receiving millions of visitors daily and the company just found a convenient and non-intrusive way to display advertising.

It is clear that the founders of Google realized quite early on in the game, what many others have not seen to date. That is the fact that although the Internet is widely seen as an improvement of the Television, this is not true and the web is actually an advanced telephone more than anything else. This is easily proved by the fact that TV and the web are in fact two very different mediums. TV can accommodate a lot of advertising comfortably, but advertising on the web is usually viewed as a nuisance and intrusion into people’s privacy. This is the main reason why PPC services took off quickly even when a similar concept offline never really proved attractive to most publishers and advertisers alike.

Google looked for a way to carry advertising online to its’ huge audience without intruding and came up with the idea of displaying only relevant advertisements based on searches on its’ popular search engine.

The next problem they had to solve was the fact that based on the huge audience they had, they would be justified in charging very high advertising rates. And that is how PPC ads came into use at Google. By charging only for click through’s to the site, advertisers were very happy to pay huge sums as long as it was for actual visits to their sites from people who had clicked on the Google PPC ads because they will usually have been able to generate an even larger sum of money from orders placed by a percentage of the visitors who arrived at their sites and became most popular form of advertising on the web.

Today there are a number of interesting search programs that include PPC advertising for a website and are well worth taking a look at because they are capable of providing the perfect solution for many online marketing and advertising problems. PPC program is an excellent way to Increase search engine ranking for websites by running specific advertising campaigns or promotions. PPC advertising brings traffic to your website with a specificity and immediacy that cannot be paralleled by any other form of advertising, at a cost that can be keyed to the value of a lead.

Wall Paper For System Desktop

March 17, 2008

Apart from just livening up your computer screen, wallpapers can cheer you up and help you liven up an otherwise boring day. The only problem is that any old picture does not make good wallpaper. Sure you can use any image as wallpaper but more often than not there are problems like pixelization, distortion of the aspect ratio and more. If you are looking to download some quality wallpapers from the Internet and have no idea how to choose the right wallpaper then don’t worry help is at hand.

Before you download and install any wallpaper, the first thing you need to do is find the resolution of your screen. Finding the resolution of your screen is a simple procedure; just right click on the desktop and the select the option that says properties. In the new window that pops up select the tab that says settings and the numbers below the slider are the resolution of your screen. The above-mentioned procedure is for windows operating systems only.

Once you know the resolution of your screen, all you need to do is download wallpapers that are designed for the same resolution. If you notice, on any wallpaper website, there is a small series of numbers mentioned below each wallpaper. These digits actually denote the screen resolution the wallpapers are designed for. So if your screen is set to screen resolution 800×600 just choose wallpaper is designed for the same screen resolution.

If you have a monitor that is set to high resolution, the chances are that lower screen resolution wallpapers will only be displayed on a part of the screen, thus leaving visible gaps on the screen. The only option in this case is to ‘stretch’ the wallpaper to the resolution of your screen, only problem is that stretching wallpaper causes distortion of the image and eventually spoils the whole effect of the screen saver.

Another thing to remember while downloading wallpapers is the method of distribution. Most wallpapers are displayed on the website and a user can simply right click on the image and set is as the desktop background. Sometimes wallpapers are also available in compressed files or executables, make sure that you have the required software to decompress the files or you might just end up downloading wallpapers you can’t use.

With so much variety available in terms of wallpapers, it has become increasingly important for people to understand the finer aspect of installing wallpapers. If you are looking to install new wallpaper on your computer, make sure that you have the screen resolution in mind. Another aspect to keep in mind is the color depth of the wallpaper, most wallpaper is not fussy about the color depth your computer supports, however occasionally some wallpapers are available in rich colors. If this is the case you will know instantly if your computer cannot support the wallpaper as the colors will be off and the wallpaper will look out of place.

The Best Medicine for Your Migraine

March 5, 2008

All of us will experience, even once in our lives, having the worst headaches we can possibly imagine. Headaches involve mild to severe pain in one or both sides of the head. There are 4 different types of headaches – inflammatory, tension (muscle contraction), traction and vascular. The most common type of headache is the one we experience when we have migraines. This is basically a vascular headache type, and most women experience that. Symptoms usually appear even before the migraine occurs. Most of the time, it happens 10-30 minutes before the attack of migraine. Some of those symptoms are listed below:

Migraine attacks last between 4 to 72 hours. Within that period all you can feel is tremendous pain. But now, with the recent developments in medicine, experts have invented different treatments to minimize or kill the pain. Medicines containing antiemetic-antinauseant substances like TRAMADOL are among the effective treatments for migraines and migraine-like headaches. Tramadol is a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug and narcotic pain reliever, which is used to treat moderate to severe chronic pain. Just some important reminders to remember about this medication, you should stop using Tramadol and consult your doctor if the following side effects occur: Convulsions, Red skin rashes, Difficulty in breathing.

U.S. Postal Service

February 20, 2008

The United States Postal Service (USPS) handles cards, letters, and packages sent from sea to shining sea. The USPS delivers more than 213 billion pieces of mail a year to some 146 million addresses in the US and its territories. The independent government agency relies on postage and fees to fund operations. Though it has a monopoly on delivering the mail, the USPS faces competition for services such as package delivery. The US president appoints nine of the 11 members of the board that oversee the USPS. The presidential appointees select the postmaster general, who, along with the deputy postmaster general, is a board member. When you have a problem with your mail service, complete a Consumer Service Card that is available from letter carriers and at post offices. This will help your postmaster respond to your problem. If you wish to telephone a complaint, a postal employee will fill out the card for you. The Consumer Advocate represents consumers at the top management level in the Postal Service. If your postal problems cannot be solved by your local post office, then write to the Consumer Advocate. His staff stands ready to serve you. Write to: The Consumer Advocate, U.S. Postal Service, Washington, D.C. 20260-6320. Or phone: 1-202-268-2284.

Living with roommates in apartments

February 6, 2008

I am a resident of denver apartments and decided to share my apartment with roommates. But when I discussed this matter with my friends they gave me some guidelines to accept the roommates. And I would like to share some of those guidelines with you that would help you to decide before staying with the roommates. Firstly, you should decide with how many people you would like to share the room with and then you need to draw a written agreement that should contain all the obligations and responsibilities to stay with the roommates and get it signed by each of the roommates individually. You need to set some limits and those limits should not be crossed by any of the roommates. To prevent problems, set some limits for the common area of your apartment, and leave a little flexibility so the guilty party doesn’t feel oppressed.  If done so the owner will have the right to cancel the agreement. Some of the guidelines are as follows:

  • Roommates should keep their apartment neat and clean. Cleanliness involves in vacuuming the messy carpets, cleaning the toilets, taking out the trash etc. make sure that every work is done.
  • One should have the limit with the over night visits of their other friends.
  • Visitors should not spend much time in at your place if so they are bound to pay the cost incurred.
  • Any sort of damages caused by the roommates to the materials in the room, the concerned person should get them repaired.
  • Every body has different way of leading their lives but nobody have a right to disturb the other person.
  • One should not violate the house rules.
  • Should pay the rent on time
  • Dirty clothes on the floor, dirty dishes in the kitchen should be cleaned.

If you consider all the above said guide lines before signing an agreement then it would be better and you can lead a happy life with your roommates with out any disturbances.

Next Summer Holiday

January 11, 2008

My sister has already started thinking and searching about the next summer holiday, even we the rest of the family is still in the hangover of the holidays. Last year we went to Florida to spend our summer holidays. We enjoyed a lot that holiday in the lazy beaches of the Atlantic and shopping. This time too we wanted to go Florida again. But my sis wants something new and more. Ok, for now its not decided yet but if you are planning to go there here are some point to note.

If the most important thing to you is to visit the hottest beaches around, then the main thing you need to consider is that it is likely to be extremely busy.

Overcrowding of beaches is a problem in the summer months as it is the time when most people are off work.

One particular thing that you need to think about on a beach vacation is where will you be staying? Ideally you will want accommodation, which is near to the beach. However this will be more expensive and if you are looking for peace and quiet you will not find it at hotels, which are situated near the beach.

Generally secluded beaches tend to be the ones, which are situated more inland. They are just as good, if not better than the beaches found on the coast.

Overall beach holidays are certainly most people’s idea of the perfect getaway. If you haven’t yet considered visiting an inland beach then now may be the time to think about it.

Features Of Portable Media Player

December 21, 2007

A portable multimedia player (PMP) - sometimes referred to as a portable video player (PVP) - is an electronic device that is capable of storing and playing digital media. Digital audio players (DAP) that display images and play videos are considered as PMPs. Like DAPs, the data is typically stored on a hard drive, microdrive, or flash memory. Other types of electronic devices like cellphones are sometimes referred as PMPs due to their playback capabilities.

PMPs are capable of playing digital audio, images, and video. They are usually built with a color LCD or OLED screen. Various players include the ability to record video - with the aid of optional accessories or cables - and audio, with a built-in microphone, or from a line-out cable or FM tuner. Some players include readers for memory cards, which were advertised to equip players with extra storage or directly transferring media, emulate an personal organizer, or support games like the iriver clix (through compatibility of Adobe Flash Lite) or the PlayStation Portable.

  • Audio Playback - As with any other DAP all portable media players have the ability to playback audio. Often players can also play formats other than MP3 and have the ability to play files in higher bit rates.
  • Photo Viewer - The color screens an all portable media players allows users to view photos, though most users will prefer a large screen PVP as resolution is important to view the detail on a still image. Advanced players also often include expansion slots such as SD and CompactFlash (both common with cameras) so that users can transfers photos from a camera with a computer.
  • Video Playback - As a portable media player there is some form of video playback. More advanced players such as PVPs have higher quality LCD screens and format support. A number of players also have the ability to output the video to an external display such as a Television.
  • Computer compatibility - PMPs are usually packaged with an installation CD/DVD that inserts device drivers (and for some players, software that is capable of seamlessly transferring files between the player and the computer). For recent players, however, these are usually available online via the manufacturers’ websites, or natively recognized by the operating system through Universal Mass Storage (UMS) or Media Transfer Protocol (MTP).

Marketing To Small Businesses

December 19, 2007

Have you been wondering how to translate your success in the large-enterprise market into successful selling to the fast-growing and profitable small-business market?  Though you might be an expert when it comes to marketing to large businesses, selling your products and services to smaller companies requires an entirely different strategy. While still on the rise, large-IT budgets are not increasing as quickly as small-business budgets. Technology usage by small businesses is rapidly increasing as the price points of both hardware and software products drop and technology solutions advance along adoption curves. This makes the small business market an attractive new growth opportunity for many technology vendors, but the rules of success in the small business market are different from those of enterprise markets. Product features, high-value price points, distribution channels, and the connection of technology solutions to the small business owner’s overall success are critical to penetrating this market segment.

  • The small business market is not a single market. Small businesses vary by size, vertical, and the speed of adopting technology. In developing a plan to enter this market, technology vendors need to sub-segment the market based on customer needs and the solutions offered.
  • Small businesses have needs different those of large enterprises. They aren’t interested in purchasing big solutions that have unnecessary functionality that will get in the way of what they’re trying to accomplish. Keep in mind that these companies can’t afford the overhead of a full-time IT staff or expensive implementation costs. The best solutions need to go in quick and be easy to maintain, while still providing scalability as the business grows.
  • Because of lower average selling points, the cost of sales for the small business market segments must be lower than for large enterprise sales. A direct model is virtually impossible to sustain profitably. Distribution through two-tier channel partners, online sales, and retail presence are critical to achieve the reach required and the price points needed to offer compelling solutions.
  • When marketing to small businesses, you will face new competition from many smaller and regional players that provide focused solutions for niche markets. If you want to successfully compete against these niche players, you need to be able to position your technology against a multitude of offerings in a low-touch sales model.
  • Small business buyers are much more apt to turn to the Internet and online communities for purchasing advice. With the growth of these online resources and communities, it’s important to use some of your marketing dollars to tap into these large networks.

Cycling To Lose Weight

December 14, 2007

Anyone can lose weight by riding a bicycle Take some bike ride every other day for a month and that person will have slimmed down as well as gaining all the other benefits of regular exercise- even having eaten the same number of cheeseburgers as usual during the month. And, if you are a couple, consider that tandem bicycles burn off twice as much. Don’t be surprised, though, if you lose inches before pounds, because you are building muscle! And, remember to drink plenty of liquids- especially sports drinks; low-calorie of course, that replace electrolytes.

Getting started is easy. A sturdy bike can be had, or borrowed, for free, especially the heavy, balloon-tired, fixed-gear, old-school models, that no modern kid would be caught dead riding, but perfect for burning calories, stable, comfortable and not worth anyone stealing. Now that you are thinking about it, you will notice all types of people riding bikes almost everywhere. Many communities have built, or are building, bike paths using millions of dollars in federal money that was made available for doing so. For the more daring, it is perfectly legal to ride with automobile traffic, if one adheres to minor state and local regulations. So, you can lose weight and save gasoline. And, of course, if you can’t or won’t ride outdoors, there are also stationary bikes- a good way to get started and a good back up when the weather is bad. Stationary bikes are preferable to treadmills since there is no weight on your joints.

PC Maintenance Tips

November 8, 2007

Let me share some important tips which keep your PC safe and run smoothly.

  • Do not turnoff PC directly without properly shutting down the OS. This may cause your hard drive some damage as well as the risk of loosing your files or getting them corrupted.
  • Do not unplug peripherals from your computer when it is still turned on. This may shot the sockets, even the motherboard and other internal parts.
  • Keep your PC cool. Have proper air-conditioning or at least ventilation. If your computer overheats, it may cause severe harm to the whole thing.
  • Don’t fully use all of the space of your hard disk. Save at least 100 to 200 megabytes of breathing room or else you would be experiencing deteriorated performance.
  • Keep all your files organized. Arrange your files and put them in their respective folders. For example, put all your documents from work in one folder, and personal ones in another.
  • Have backups of important files in your hard drives. You’ll never know when something might happen. Have backups in floppy disks, CDs, DVDs or any other external storage.
  • You should have an antivirus installed in your computer (this is a must). There are lots of them out there. Keep your antivirus updated regularly for the latest virus definitions. Maintain your hard disk on a regular basis. Check if it already has bad sectors in it with scandisk or any other program that can diagnose it.
  • Empty your internet cache. As you surf the internet your computer stores web pages and images into a temporary internet cache so that it can quickly recall and access information when you move back and forth between pages. This backup information can quickly add up and eat hard drive space.

Innovation on a Deadline - In Your Small Business

November 7, 2007

If the thought of coming up with a great idea on demand causes your brain to freeze up, here is a step-by-step guide to make the process more manageable:

  • Compose a single sentence that precisely outlines your task.
  • Then brainstorm. Do not worry if ideas are good or bad — just get them down on a paper. Think hard, but go fast, and don’t get too fond of anything yet.
  • Find a colleague and throw your ideas around. The greatest innovations come from collaborative efforts. Don’t dismiss anything out of hand. Scramble those ideas you have got and those images you have gathered. Rearrange them. What you created in sequence should now be taken apart.
  • Despite the looming deadline, give everything you’ve hashed out a chance to settle by taking a mental break. Read a magazine, listen to your iPod or do your routine job. When you return to the task, your subconscious will pick up right where you left off.
  • Be decisive. Choose the three best ideas you’ve had and write rationales for each. Be ruthless. If you can convince yourself, you can convince others. Polish the ideas, adding details and spinning them out in new directions, before presenting them to key decision-makers.
  • Work as a group. Make a definitive decision on which idea to pursue.

You can’t sit around and wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

Are You a Thought Leader?

November 1, 2007

You may have heard the phrase thought leader bandied about. It means someone who is a trusted resource in his or her field of expertise. Although some thought leaders contribute ideas to the community without any specific goal, many see the process as a

great way to attract new clients. It’s a method you should consider.

Anyone with specialized knowledge has the potential to become a thought leader. You can use a medium as informal as a blog that dispenses helpful tips; or on the other end of the spectrum you might want to offer white papers and survey results. But whatever your media strategy, David Meerman Scott has some solid advice for aspiring thought leaders:

Understand the purpose of thought leadership. You want to educate and entertain, not sell. “This type of marketing and PR technique is not a brochure or sales pitch,” writes Scott. “Thought leadership is not advertising.” So it’s important that you don’t write about your company–at all.

Cater to your audience. Address issues of interest to prospective customers. And present the information in an engaging fashion. Remember: This is about your readers, not you.

Promote, promote, promote. Alert carefully chosen bloggers, reporters and analysts with links to your material. Also, place easy-to-find links in online venues you control–even in your staff’s email signatures.

The Po!nt: “Thought leadership content is designed to solve buyer problems or answer questions,” writes Scott, “and to show that you and your organization are smart and worth doing business with.”
